Terlato Pinot Grigio
The Food:
Simple seared tuna on the grill with grilled veggies. Amazing cheese plate for dessert.
It's true, I don't drink much Pinot Grigio. I find it frequently one-dimensional and flat. BUT- I heard good things about this one, and decided to give-it-a-go! First off, I am SURPRISED AND PLEASED! I wish I had more lying about!
It is a traditional-style, well-balanced (between alcohol and acidity) Pinot Grigio. To me, though, it was more inspiring than your normal PG.
This Terlato turned out to be the perfect match (in my humble opinion) to the dense fish entree and even the cheese plate...it was somehow just right!
As (many of) you may know, I eat A LOT of cheese. The combo I had tonight surprised me with this wine! I suppose it had enough alcohol to balance the strong cheeses (1- old, stinky brie; 2- dutch spring cheese; 3- youngish gorgonzola). [Aside: my mantra remains: if it doesn't smell, why bother?! Admittedly, this is a general statement, but does hold true 80+% of the time!!]
If you don't typically like PG, try this one and be pleasantly surprised! If you do like PG, try this one and be surprised!
Santé!
